WEEK 1 –
WEEK 3/4 – Produce a 20 second response to an artists work

WEEK 5 – Draw a ‘Field of view’ – map drawing task.
I walked around my local parks located in Camberwell to capture my area and explore the area a bit more with a pencil and pen and a A6 sketchbook. I also tracked my route with a map on my phone for reference. I also wanted to produce a digital map on Procreate in my spare time.

WEEK 7 – Elephant & Castle Group Project
In a group of 4-6 imagine an origin story of how the Elephant and Castle might have got its name and then make an ‘artist’s book’ that tells our story. Present this story an unusual and surprising form. Below is some of the work we all created as a group and then the final video as the response.

INTRODUCTION TO ANIMATION – Point of View Project
Reflecting on this project, I am happy with the outcome to an extent. My POV project is all about my London life through rose tinted glasses. A concept I wanted to explore as someone who has moved to a big city. I’ve had many family members, and friends assume that my student life is always fun and exciting however it isn’t the case for me. I wanted to reflect the isolation one can experience by storytelling a life through rose tinted glasses. I worked with the skills I am strongest with and skills I picked up in these rotations.
Traditional animation was one of the rotations where I was able to refine my attention for detail and drawing skills but also skills from location drawing which was all about being thorough with my observation when looking at my environments. The tasks from Introduction to Animation were also important and great influences to how I work but also just learn from other people too. All the knowledge I gained from my rotations allowed me to narrow down how I wanted to portray my concept but also know what medium I should work in. My approach towards this project was open minded since there wasn’t anything I felt strongly about therefore I reflected on any past experiences that could influence my work. I felt strongly about my perception on my new life here and thought it was a great opportunity to explore this since other people may experience this too.
This term I was able to explores side to my art in yet to develop and work further on but also have been able to experiment with different mediums including 2D and 3D. I got the try out different softwares including Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Maya which proved to be fun but also challenging since it was all new but was great to explore and expand my skills and knowledge. Being able to combine my skills to work in this final project was an interesting way to test myself and a learning curve. Although my outcome wasn’t exactly satisfactory, I am able to reflect on the areas I would like to improve on and how I can do that. I hope in the future I can gain more confidence with my art style and animated work by working with others and gaining new knowledge and skills from others but also doing my own research.
