Second week of Living Voices project work. Last Week for Pre production and by the end of the week I should have

First Week of Living Voices consisted of choosing our project audio and creating our ideas around it and putting together a few things including:
My Chosen Audio

As part of a pair, we were required to create a 20 second animated video over the span of a few weeks. With our chosen words we created a story that would explore all our ideas and really test our skills. I will provide the initial plan as a pdf where we explored and set out our ideas using mind maps and moodboards. Another PDF will be the process of the character designs for this project.
Our Words:
DUE TO TECHINCAL ISSUES WITH ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS ON MY LAPTOP I WAS UNABLE TO EXPORT IT AS AN MP4 AS IT KEPT CRASHING THEREFORE I HAD TO TAKE A VIDEO ON MY PHONE OF MY FINAL PRODUCT. THE VIDEO WILL BE AT THE END OF THIS POST.
The Motion Graphics Rotation focuses on three core principles of animation:
It aims to utilise visual elements such as textures, shapes and colours in motion graphics. This week we will be using Adobe after effects to produce a short clip on our interpretation of ‘Connection’.

This weeks rotation was 3D Story Worlds, where we were asked to use Maya software to practice and create a 3D environmental art. Using Maya this week allowed us to build an understanding of foundational art practices such as light, colour, shape and composition. Below I uploaded some images of my final piece and include my weekly PDF that will talk about my experience with the software.

This week is about creating a colour character sheet (object, human, or animal) using the learnings from Monday’s exercises and one of the three abstract prompts as a jumping-off point.
Three prompts include:
Monday 8th November – In lesson one of our warm up tasks included using basic shapes to create 5 interesting character outlines

This week is focusing on creative writing and being able to develop a storytelling voice: a way of seeing and speaking to, and about the world that is unique but also to recognise that stories live everywhere.
I was alone.
Exposed to an unknown edifice that stared at me in return. A deadly silence that could kill, but my curiosity would have killed me quicker. I approached the faint glimmer of light flickering from a distance from this place, as I was soon to step into a nightmare.
A vile odor of flesh hit me. A monstrosity right before my eyes. Hanging boars, bleeding from the gaping hole in their throats as if they were Christmas lights. And in the middle of this building was an empty ice rink, tainted red. I had no doubt, I had to flee, but my body was unresponsive. Before I could run, I heard giggling. A cold wind rushed against my face. I stiffly looked back. To my horror I saw prancing children, all holding hands in a circle, giggling as they sang ‘Ring around the Rosie’.
Constructive Feedback from lesson 05/11/2021:
WEEK 1 –
WEEK 3/4 – Produce a 20 second response to an artists work

WEEK 5 – Draw a ‘Field of view’ – map drawing task.
I walked around my local parks located in Camberwell to capture my area and explore the area a bit more with a pencil and pen and a A6 sketchbook. I also tracked my route with a map on my phone for reference. I also wanted to produce a digital map on Procreate in my spare time.

WEEK 7 – Elephant & Castle Group Project
In a group of 4-6 imagine an origin story of how the Elephant and Castle might have got its name and then make an ‘artist’s book’ that tells our story. Present this story an unusual and surprising form. Below is some of the work we all created as a group and then the final video as the response.

INTRODUCTION TO ANIMATION – Point of View Project
Reflecting on this project, I am happy with the outcome to an extent. My POV project is all about my London life through rose tinted glasses. A concept I wanted to explore as someone who has moved to a big city. I’ve had many family members, and friends assume that my student life is always fun and exciting however it isn’t the case for me. I wanted to reflect the isolation one can experience by storytelling a life through rose tinted glasses. I worked with the skills I am strongest with and skills I picked up in these rotations.
Traditional animation was one of the rotations where I was able to refine my attention for detail and drawing skills but also skills from location drawing which was all about being thorough with my observation when looking at my environments. The tasks from Introduction to Animation were also important and great influences to how I work but also just learn from other people too. All the knowledge I gained from my rotations allowed me to narrow down how I wanted to portray my concept but also know what medium I should work in. My approach towards this project was open minded since there wasn’t anything I felt strongly about therefore I reflected on any past experiences that could influence my work. I felt strongly about my perception on my new life here and thought it was a great opportunity to explore this since other people may experience this too.
This term I was able to explores side to my art in yet to develop and work further on but also have been able to experiment with different mediums including 2D and 3D. I got the try out different softwares including Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Maya which proved to be fun but also challenging since it was all new but was great to explore and expand my skills and knowledge. Being able to combine my skills to work in this final project was an interesting way to test myself and a learning curve. Although my outcome wasn’t exactly satisfactory, I am able to reflect on the areas I would like to improve on and how I can do that. I hope in the future I can gain more confidence with my art style and animated work by working with others and gaining new knowledge and skills from others but also doing my own research.
In this rotation and project, the aim is to draw, make, record and use sound to explore the potential of using my environment to create imaginative new Soundworlds.

Tuesday 26th October
Friday 29th October
This weeks project is an introduction to observational drawing for animation. I produced some loose to detailed pencil sketches from around London that include environment and character.
